Book illustration is not only a form of art but also a potential tool and magnifying glass into ancient history, allowing us to get a picture of previous society's values

Book Illustration has the potential to branch out into multiple genres it goes beyond simply children's books, however children's books does take the large majority of illustrated books that are being made today. However, in previous generations and society's book illustration took the form of relgious texts etc.
